3 227-246, Mar, 2020 Peer-reviewedLead authorThis paper aims to provide a supplementary explanation on the textbook entitled New Express Plus Bengali (Bengali primer). Although the book is well written overall, it has three significant shortcomings. First, almost all the Bengali words in the book are shown without proper phonetic symbols. Second, it does not explain the so-called vowel harmony in Bengali. Third, it sometimes introduces a new grammatical feature as well as vocabulary without explanations that it will deal with in more detail in other lessons later. In this paper, efforts have been made to add necessary comments to the problems mentioned above.
