In order to improve the mechanical and electrical properties of woodceramics, which have been ordinarily made by carbonizing the MDFs (medium-density fiberboards) impregnated with phenolic resin, molten aluminum and brass were impregnated into the woodceramics borads with had been carbonized at 1073 K (800 oC). The apparent densities of non-impregnated, Al-impregnated and brass-impregnated woodceramics were 0.83, 1.8 and 3.8 Mg m-3, respectively. The volume percentages of impregnated aluminium and brass were 54% and 39%, respectively. The maximum bending stress values of non-impregnated, Al-impregnated and brass-impregnated woodceramics were 10 Mpa, 50 MPa, and 80 MPa, respectively. The electrical resistivity values of non-impregnated, Al-impregnated and brass-impregnated woodceramics were 2.1 x 10-3, 4.6 x 10-7, and 9.0 x 10-7 ?m, respectively.
