The Chemical Society of Japan, CSJ, launched its own electronic journal service in 2002 using the J-STAGE system. The service was provided free of charge for the last three years and the two journals got over million accesses worldwide per year in 2004. Starting in 2005 the service has switched to charged. This paper reports on the recent state of development of our journals; the number of access, effects of electronic reviewing system, and the load of online business. Problems of Japanese scholarly publication are also discussed.
