Text sharing is an important issue in the construction of a knowledge base for Buddhist studies. The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), which is an international framework for image sharing, can play an eminent role in improving the implementation and operational aspects of digital scholarly editing systems that aim to achieve this efficiently and effectively. The authors designed a model of a digital scholarly editing system for Buddhist studies, positioned IIIF as a means to improve the implementation and operational aspects of the model, and implemented it based on the model in the full-text Buddhist text database SAT2018. Through this study, we clarified the issues of scalability and sustainability in the operation of digital scholarly editing systems.
