仏教学のための知識基盤の構築にあたり，テキストの共有は重要な課題である．これを効率的・効果的に実現することを目指すデジタル学術編集システムにおいて，近年普及しつつある国際的な画像共有の枠組みであるIIIF（International Image Interoperability Framework）は実装と運用の側面を改善する役割を果たしうる．筆者らは，仏教学のためのデジタル学術編集システムのモデルを設計し，そのモデルにおいて実装・運用面を改善する手段としてIIIFを位置づけ，仏典全文テキストデータベースSAT2018においてそれに基づく実装を行った．これを通じて，デジタル学術編集システムの運用におけるスケーラビリティと持続可能性に関する課題を明らかにした． Text sharing is an important issue in the construction of a knowledge base for Buddhist studies. The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), which is an international framework for image sharing, can play an eminent role in improving the implementation and operational aspects of digital scholarly editing systems that aim to achieve this efficiently and effectively. The authors designed a model of a digital scholarly editing system for Buddhist studies, positioned IIIF as a means to improve the implementation and operational aspects of the model, and implemented it based on the model in the full-text Buddhist text database SAT2018. Through this study, we clarified the issues of scalability and sustainability in the operation of digital scholarly editing systems.

<p>After having not been of concern for some time, the matter of whether or not Buddhist studies should be seen as an independent discipline has recently resurfaced within related academic communities. Now that the environments of scholarship in the arts and humanities are being radically transformed in terms of elucidating, preserving, and transmitting knowledge under the strong influence of radical innovations in information communication technologies, another moment has apparently arrived where this subject needs to be brought into careful consideration. In this new digital horizon of research, each product of research that heretofore conveniently existed independently cannot help from getting involved in one vast interconnected context, in which their mutual methodological relationships need to be clarified. This paper, paying attention to the question of "the linguistic turn" in history, reviews the methodologies of Buddhist studies and discusses the great significance of the concept of "textuality" in Buddhist studies in this new environment.</p>

This article will explain the structure and function of a digital research environment for Buddhist studies entitled Research Base for Indian and Buddhist Studies (RBIB). In the field of Buddhist studies (and especially in the area of Indian Buddhism), scholars face various obstacles in their efforts to share materials-in both paper and digital media. In establishing the RBIB, we have considered it to be of paramount importance to preserve the continuity of the prior tradition of studies within the paper medium, while at the same time developing a methodology that takes best advantage of the digital medium. After identifying six basic conditions that will satisfy the demands of both approaches, we have implemented a Web collaboration system that fulfills these conditions. Our system also makes functional parts of the RBIB that enable the presentation of the relationships between arbitrary fragments of related texts in various canonical languages through a user-friendly interface, which in turn allows users to learn how to edit and browse relationship data. Our system has thus far been highly evaluated by testers, and it has been further facilitated by recent developments in Information Communications Technology. Humanities digitization has a deep mutual relationship with this new technology.

The present paper discusses the significance of delivering the results of research activities to multiple types of devices, especially to smart phones and tablet computers, and describes our multi-platform content distribution service as the case study of the 'Ningbo Project.' The requirements for apps to help humanities, implementation, and problems left for future improvement are discussed in detail. © 2011 IEEE.

現在，『法寶義林』 （Hobogirin, Dictionaire encyclopedique du bouddhisme d'apres les sources chinoises et japonaises） に収められた仏教の経論の著者・訳者の目録部のデジタル化を TEI の標準的なマークアップ方法にしたがって進めている．本報告では，そのデジタル化の概要，デジタル化に際しての問題点，および今後の展望を含めたその解決へのアプローチについて論ずる．We are working on the digitizing project of Hobogirin, Dictionaire encyclopedique du bouddhisme d'apres les sources chinoises et japonaises, following the standard mark-up guideline of TEI. In this report, we would like to state the outline of the project, its problems, and the approach to resolve them.

SAT 大蔵経テキストデータベース研究会では大正新脩大蔵経のテキストデータベースを完成させ、大蔵経本来の営みである、その時点でのより良い学術情報資源の提供に向けて新たな試みを展開している。本稿ではそれらの試みのうち、独自に提供する情報資源の内容の深化と、既存の情報資源同士の相互運用の強化について論じる。すなわち、前者は大蔵経を中心とするインド学仏教学の成果をデジタルメディアの世界でより深く蓄積・共有しつつ新たな可能性を提示していくために必要であり、後者はすでに蓄積された情報資源を効果的に活用することで、作業の重複による人的資源や費用の浪費を避けるとともに、情報資源の扱いに関して様々なレベルで連携を行いつつ、利用者に様々な利便性を提供することが可能である。その際には、いずれにおいても、デジタルメディアの特性と限界に配慮することが必要である。The SAT Daizokyo Text Database Committee has completed the basic construction of the Daizokyo text database. This phase of the task having been completed, the next stage is the development of an innovative means to provide all scholars who are involved with the project with the best array of information possible to allow them to play a role as the editors of the Daizokyo. In this paper, we discuss the importance of developing scholarly resources which are originally provided and interoperation between existing related resources.
