Japan Society for Intercultural Studies (Nihon Kokusai Bunkagaku Kai) was initiated by the Faculty of Intercultural Communication of Ryukoku University and was established in 2001 to confirm the academic concept of "Intercultural Studies." The Members of this project have worked for the promotion of the discussions in this Society and their feedback to the Faculty. As the conclusion of this project, we organized a symposium "Foundation of Intercultural Studies" on 31^<st> January in Meio University, Nago, Okinawa. The speakers were Hirano Kenichiro, Kumata Yasuaki and Nakachi Tadashi. Hirano's presentation was on the relation between traditional fields of social sciences and intercultural studies. Kumata's was on the history of the Japan society for Intercultural Studies. Nakachi's was on the education program of intercultural studies in Meio University. In this paper are added the analysis of the symposium by the four members of the research project.
