A new undulator monochromator developed at the Photon Factory can achieve high resolution and a high output flux by using a new optical system composed of a cylindrical mirror and a concave grating. Optical aligning can be performed quickly and accurately using a new aligning system composed of a knife edge and a photocathode plate. Undulator radiation spectra measurements to evaluate the initial performance of the monochromator confirmed that the new optical system and the monochromator were accurately designed.
