At first, questionnaire surveys and usage survey were conducted in the office building that has glass facade introducing the highly reflective Roll Screen (so called SS) with exterior visibility as renovation, to figure out the effect on occupant's thermal and light environment. Secondly, field survey was conducted in the University with SS to evaluate its thermal performance quantitatively. Finally, Perimeter Annual Load(PAL) was calculated. Then, it was figured out that SS produces great thermal performance higher than high performance glasses and preferred its exterior visibility. So SS has a spread possibility as simple renovation for thermal improvement.

Recently, buildings with natural ventilation system are increasing in number from indoor comfort and energy conservation standpoint. In this study, at a high-rise office building with manually operated natural ventilation window, field measurement and BEMS-data analysis were conducted on to investigate the window performance and annual operation aspect of all floors. According to the field measurement, the average ventilation frequency during office time was 0.8/h. From the BEMS-data analysis, it was indicated that window opening has a high correlation with outdoor temperature and season, and that window open rate reached its peak at between 21-23 degrees C. Furthermore, it was confirmed that appropriate window operation improved the effect of heat load reduction by natural ventilation.

Field survey and questionnaire survey was made to a building with manually operated natural ventilation system, to investigate the optimum way to operate the system. From the field survey, it was found that the frequency of the window operation was low. Furthermore, it was indicated that the factor of the window opening is related to outdoor temperature and time. And, from the questionnaire survey, it was know that the office workers were well willing the way of manually operating. Also by factor analysis of the reason of opening and closing the window, it was known that the psychological reasons are similarly important as physiological reasons.

Total future energy consumption was calculated from PAL simulated by a heat and air transfer system simulation program for building and from total glass area in the future. If increasing rate of glass area was small and "PAL=200" and "Efficient heat source system" were innovated, energy consumption from glass facade buildings was maintained at 2008 value. It was understood that innovating the method of thermal high-performance design of building facade were needed.

Questionnaire and interview survey were taken to research the trends of glass facade building, and figure out advanced facade model. In addition, with thermal network model simulation, thermal performance evaluation was conducted. As results, it was found that reduction target of glass facade to cut down PAL standard 25%. Double skin facade with Low-e glass in its inner glass and ventilation opening is one of the future facade type to achieve the target in Japan.

The present paper proposes an analysis of system performance about an actual HVAC system with a seasonal ground thermal storage applied to another facilities. Conditions that we examined are Weather condition, Nature of soil and heat exchange piping condition. On Weather condition this HVAC system can be setup anywhere on japan without Okinawa. On Nature of soil Wet condition is effective. On result of analysis Heat exchange piping condition, System COP is good in the condition of 1.5m in the diameter of the piling, And in condition of 0.2m at intervals of heat exchange piping within the range that can be constructed, And in the condition of one meter in the diameter of heat exchange piping.

The present paper proposes an optimized operational strategy of an actual HVAC system with a seasonal ground thermal storage using simulation. In order to improve the efficiency of the discharge operation, this paper conducts case studies about the discharge operational method and seeks the optimal operational method to minimize the value of an objective function. The proposed optimal operation method was applied to the actual system, and the measured operational data shows that the optimum operational method can save the energy consumption by approximately 57%, and improve system COP from 3.18 to 7.14 compared with the operational method of the previous year.
