The present paper proposes the optimized operational method of a HVAC system with an underground thermal storage system to minimize the energy consumption of the system using simulation. The simulation model consists of two modules: soil and pile module and HVAC system module that consists of models of HVAC components. The optimal operational method proposed based on the results of the case studies can decrease energy consumption of the whole system about 43% compared with the present operational method, and can improve system COP of the ground thermal storage system from 3.26 to 5.04.

This facilities were constructed as a freshwater fish garden aquarium in a river environmental paradise in Gifu Prefecture. It aimed at the ability to pull in more customers improvement and energy conservation, and it made it to the aquarium facilities where the building form combined with the exhibition space and the green engineering. The calorie at the air-conditioning period and the amount of use of water were analyzed according to the driving data.

Long term survey on natural ventilation system was conducted at fresh water aquarium with glass roof. Amount of natural ventilation and thermal environment at the exhibition space under glass roof were measured to evaluate the performance of natural ventilation system. The natural ventilation system exhausted the moisture and heat. Then, the temperature fell at the exhibition space under glass roof. The natural ventilation system saved air-conditioning energy and kept thermal comfort at the exhibition space under glass roof.

This paper proposes the outline and operation result of Ground Thermal Storage Air-conditioning System by Natural energy, which used Pile-foundation. This system is ground thermal storage during the season to use as the air-conditioning in the summertime and maiking cold by fresh air in the winter. The result shows that the efficiency of heat capacity using effectively is 68%, and total COP is 3.06.

Case studies about operational method of a HVAC system with an underground thermal storage system are conducted using simulation. The simulation consists of two modules: soil and pile module and HVAC system module. The soil and pile module can calculate the temperature distribution in the soil and the outlet water temperature using finite element method. The HVAC system module consists of models of HVAC components. The method proposed based on the results of the case studies can improve System COP of the ground thermal storage system from 2.55 to 4.37 and decrease energy consumption of the whole system about 4.0%, compared with the present operational method.

The Yonden new building adopts the energy reduction measure using natural energy such as "Soil thermal storage" and "Free cooling" where the electric power load leveling, energy conservation, and the environmental burden reduction that is the management problem are practiced in Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. in addition to the water thermal storage system that has worked so far. In this report, these outline of the passive low energy plan, slub heat storage measurement results and soil heat storage measurement results in winter.

With regard to "Sakai Gas Building" located in the central part of Sakai city, we are at the stage of verifying whether its air conditioning system functions properly and achieves the energy saving and reduction of loads on environment as intended. The air conditioning system is featured by the system composed of under-floor air conditioning and natural ventilation in combination and equipped with ceiling fans. The authors conducted simulations to clarify effect of energy saving to be achieved by the system.Part 1 will introduce the outline of the building and building service systems.

Air conditioning system of Sakai Gas Building employs ceiling fans and natural ventilation system in combination. The authors elaborated this system and developed its energy-saving operation method in which commencement of air conditioning mode involving operation of heat source equipment is delayed as far as possible. The paper will introduce its operational work flow and energy saving effect of the system estimated at the design stage. Also introduced will be actual results in energy saving.
