Technical report of IEICE. SSE, 95(397) 37-42, Dec 7, 1995The proposed "Self-sizing Network Operation", traffic operation concept for ATM networks is aimed at assigning network resources rapidly and flexibly to meet traffic demands in real time. Evaluation of a prototype system clarified the relation between network scale and response time, and confirmed the suitability of this operation system for actual networks. Suitable VP bandwidth control algorithms were found to differ for various traffic condition. TMN was used, and MIB were constructed for managed network resources.
