Objective: This study aimed to examine the cross-validity of the “Scale to Reflect on Nursing Support in Patients’ Treatment Decisions” among nurses involved in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) during the preparation phase. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was mailed to nurses in medical departments nationwide in Japan that had performed an average of one or more allogeneic transplants per month. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to evaluate model fit indices and assess the extent to which the factor structure established during scale development was reproduced. Results: Responses were obtained from 283 nurses across 30 facilities, with 261 included in the analysis (valid response rate: 61.1%). Model fit based on the factor structure established during scale development yielded CFI = .886, TLI = .866, and RMSEA = .077, indicating a generally acceptable model fit. Score differences were observed based on the external criterion of having or lacking post-transplant long term follow-up outpatient qualifications, demonstrating a small to moderate effect size. Conclusion: The “Scale to Reflect on Nursing Support in Patients’ Treatment Decisions” demonstrated a factor structure consistent with that identified at the time of its development, indicating preliminary evidence of its cross-validity in the context of nursing support during the HSCT preparation phase.
