The study was undertaken during the summer of 2014 to evaluate the indoor climate for infants. Two apartment houses with an infant in Shiga Prefecture were studied. Temperature, humidity, vertical temperature difference, carbon dioxide concentration, chemical concentrations, certain VOCs, airborne fungi were measured and questionnaire surveys were conducted. The results were 1) relative indoor humidity, particularly in the bedroom, were higher in house A, who's residents have allergies, than in house B, which was free of allergies; 2) the maximum vertical temperature differences were comfortable, within 3℃, in both houses. However, the temperature at 0.1m above floor in house A's bedroom during the cooling operation was low, a possible hazard for infants; 3) chemical concentrations were negligable; 4) the indoor concentrations of airborne fungi were over 1000 CFU/m^3 and evaluated to be high in house A where the relative indoor humidity was high; and 5) the maximum indoor carbon dioxide concentration was over 1600 ppm in house A where the mechanical ventilation system was not operated.
